Davis/San Francisco weekend

My plan went off quite well. i think i covered alot over the past weekend.

Thursday night was spent renting the car after all of our classes ended at 5pm. However it was still abit rush for us, especially when we decided this quite last min and we didnt really packed properly. So after we got the car, we still need to pump petrol and buy some water and food (chips etc). I remembered it was like 8pm when we finally set off. The drive was pretty much smooth. Me and hsien xiong shared the car-driving (about 395 miles) luckily.. Anyway i reached Stella's place at about 1.30am. She was like so tired but thanks stella, for housing us for one night. The next day was spent exploring the Davis town and UC Davis. It is pretty much a small and peaceful town. The nearest city is Sacremento - didn't really explore there but heard that it is just like any other city (i'm not a very city person).

Chemistry Majors!
New FriendsLying down on the grass of UC Davis. Jinzhan and Stella Parking ticket - again... haha seems like everywhere we go, we will get a souvenir from the locals.. We hanged out with Stella until about 3pm then we decided to head for San Francisco. Decided to skip Berkeley lamentably cos there wasn't enought time.. and some of my UC Berkeley friends didn't really get back to me too so i guess they are all busy (semester system people should be nearing their exams now). Checked into our hotel (Comfort Suites) - it is really a good deal. It is only USD 69 per room (we have 4 people) and there is free parking, Internet and breakfast (these three things damn impt!). Ate some junk food and then turned in early.
Saturday and Sunday were spent exploring San Francisco. SF is fabulous! i think i covered pretty much everything.. Golden Gate Bridge, Bay Bridge, 22nd Street, Lombard Street, Ghirardelli, Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39, Alcatraz, Chinatown (egg tarts!!), Japantown =p Of course i also met up with my babe Ivy. =) Basically we drive around and followed the signs from the seagull labelled as "Scenic Drive". It is quite fun, like amazing race. haah

The famous 22nd Street - world's steepest road.
Fun with slope - haha
Castro Street - also known as gay street. You can see alot of rainbow flags hanging on the lamp posts. There is also a huge rainbow flag in the middle of the street. Apparently there are some good shoppings here but we didn't have the time to explore much here.
Corona Heights. It is a hill surrounded by the built-up areas. The view would have been nicer if there were less fog.
After Corona Heights, we drove to see Randall Museum. It is actually a museum for kids. Since it is free, we entered to see some miniature zoo.

Randall MusuemAnimal Farm

After that we drove to Twin Peak and..

it is very cold.. the feeling is like living among the clouds.

UCSF. We wanted to take a look at UCSF campus. It turned out that it is a pretty small campus that is located in the heart of the city area. It is quite analogus to our SMU.

Lunch at Chinatown, San Francisco. In front of YMCA.

Chinatown street. Oh yah, thanks to natalie for the eggtarts. The San Francisco Chinatown eggtarts is really good!!! (Sorrie.. no pic.. i gobbled it up) It is juicy!

Lombard Street - the world's crookiest road. Palace of the Fine Arts

Golden Gate Bridge. Got many more Golden Gate Bridge pics as we actually went over it and take pics of it from many different angles. Shall post them later. =)

Cow Palace. We found this wierd exit along the 101 freeway so decided to see what's there. Indeed there is a Cow Palace. I read from the street advertisement that there is a Tatoo Expo going on then. It requires USD 10 per car entry.. so we decided to give it a miss.

We went on ahead to Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf. Met up with my dearie Ivy.

Windy San Francisco

Me and Ivy!

The sea lion resting ground

The merry-go-round. Been wanting to take the one which is featured in Stairway to Heaven. Must go Korea!

Seafood lunch! The food was great and very filling.. The fun part is we get to draw like kids before the food comes. haha..

3 kids
Another 3 kids
The food

Alcatraz. Well, we missed our boat and ended up waiting for the next one. I didn't know we have to arrive 30 min prior to departure.. sorry, didn't read the fine prints on the ticket. The evening tour is good. The audio tour is pretty good and alot of stories were told.

Late.. Nvm, the new boat has more fun with us. =)

On the Alcatraz Island!

The outside from the boat.

Having fun inside the prison cell.

Nice architecture. The older the building, the more charm it has.. so good dont need to maintain and can generate revenue.

Our last stop is Ghirardelli Square where super nice chocolate is borned.. yum yum..

The drive back to Los Angeles is 6 hours.. tiring man.. next time i will fly.. Ivy, wait for me. =p
