Cortical Leftie or Rightie?
Just finished my Introductory Psychology lecture.. and here is what i've learnt. Ok here are two sets of characteristics, which one do you fall under?Set A
You find yourself
- Always willing to try something new
- When you see a good chance, you seize it
- You are affected strongly by good things like praises/recognition
- You find yourself acting on the spur of the moment
Set B
You find yourself
- Worry about making mistakes
- You feel lousy at your poor performances
- You are affected strongly by criticism/scolding
- You have more fears as compared to your peers
These two sets occupy the two extreme opposite ends of the spectrum. If you are more of Set B like myself.. then you are a Cortical Rightie! Otherwise you are a Leftie!
Righties use more of the right hemisphere of the brain and vice versa.. Righties are associated to the withdrawal system. We create alot of strong stimulant internally and we try to reduce them externally. Lefties are more of the Approach system. They tend to look for external stimulants to compensate for their lack of it internally. There are certain advantages and disadvantages of course.. will learn it on thurs. I love Psychology!
